Description
Take control of a mechanical digging machine as you tunnel your way through the earth, searching for valuable gems and the even more valuable bags of gold! But watch out for Nobbins and Hobbins, and don't be careless enough to let the bags of gold crush you!
Digger is an arcade game combining elements of the popular arcade games Dig Dug and Mr. Do!. Players control the titular 'Digger' that can tunnel through dirt with ease. The goal of each level is to gather up each of the gems, which allows you to progress to the next stage. However, Nobbins and Hobbins are also lurking within the levels - Nobbins are fairly slow, but transform into Hobbins which are much quicker. The enemies can only chase Digger through the tunnels he creates - they cannot dig through the dirt themselves.
Digger's defenses consist of being able to shoot a single, rechargeable shot in the direction he is facing with F1 (which recharges after about thirty seconds), crushing his foes by digging underneath a gold bag and letting it plummet down, crushing anything in its path, or by collecting the bonus cherry that sometimes appears, causing Digger to become temporarily invincible.

Diggin' it!
This game brings back memories... My dad didn't play computer games all that much but he was KING at this one! Hopefully the highscore save feature works with this like it does for others... Runs perfectly fine to me, hit the F1 key in game to shoot... Kinda reminds me of Dig-Dug and of course I remember a different color palette (greens and browns), but all in all a satisfactory game that runs good through the archive, even at full screen...

Digger game is wonderfully available. After 30 years, i am enjoying it again !
There is a code for increasing/decreasing speed of the game.
But , are there cheat codes for increasing the number of lives of Digger ? or for jumping to next levels ?

A classic
One of the classic DOS-games I'm always transferring from my old computer to the new computer, using emulators. Thanks for making it available in the Internet Archive!

Digger Remastered
This game was one of the first I ever played on my first computer. Spent hours and hours trying to get just through even a few levels.
You can download Digger Remastered here -
http://digger.org/ - with versions for a bunch of systems, and includes a few extra features. It's just as good as the original. It even runs on a 286 and includes game recording and playback modes!

Fun game and CGA graphics
There is a soft spot in my heart for this game since it was the first game I ever played on my brand new Tandy 1000 back in the day.
I remember thinking I've really stepped up in the word of video games when I booted this baby up from a 5 1/4" floppy some guy gave me.
This also came in the other CGA palette of brown, poop green, and safety cone orange.
Fun game but it was really stinking hard! Dropping a sack of gold on two or more Nobbin, Hobbins and whatever his name was is extremely satisfying.

Great Dig Dug variant
But its a pain in the ass to shoot using this emulator because you have to use (CTRL) + f1 which only seems to work some of the time. Otherwise you end up going to the emulators keyboard list.
I remember playing this game for a year before I accidentally hit the f1 key and the gun fired.
I must have had a better video card than the emulator provides as I rememeber it being in color.

Yes I remember there was a way to slow him down when I played this years ago. What do you press to do this? I have tried everything and need more instructions. It is an awesome game.
